“Why should you add your voice to the cacophony of voices already existing on the Internet?”
In every endeavour, there will always be naysayers. Thus, if we are to succeed in what we believe in, we should be aware of this fact and not let it discourage us.
Thus, in this spirit, I’m writing to contribute my personal opinions, for “the art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe” – Gustave Flaubert
What You’ll Find
In this blog, the reader would find short opinion pieces written about topics that I’m interested about. Being an amateur writer, I wouldn’t hope for my writing to be extremely polished, but I hope for it to be thought-provoking and insightful.
At this point, I would wish to remain anonymous. Not for any nefarious reason, but for the simple reason of not wanting my credentials (or lack thereof) to detract from the writing itself. In this world today, many people do not hesitate to pigeon-hole others in neat categories of thought, and judge all that they say or write through this lens. A Democrat would have a certain set of viewpoints, a Republican a different set, and so on. However, as people we are neither static nor single-faceted, and should not be viewed as such. We should not be too quick to generalize, or use sweeping statements to gloss over pertinent points, for it is only through an understanding of what someone else is saying, that we truly get to know that person.
Thus, I hope that what I write here can bring us, the reader and writer, on a journey of greater understanding of the world that we live in, the people living in it and issues that we care about, both big and small, obvious or inconspicuous.
Would this humble start begin a long and fulfilling journey of discovery? Perhaps. Or will this blog fizzle out after a few months? Perhaps so too. I think this quote from Albert Einstein might be pertinent, “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”
